Sanjay Dutt in an interview with a magazine long back had revealed that he was blown away by the beauty of Aishwarya Rai and was warned by his sisters to not to pursue her in his own style by taking her number and sending flowers.
Unlike the present-day scenarios when Sanjay Dutt is leading the life of a family man, there was time he was the real ‘Casanova’ of the Hindi film industry. At a time when there were rumors of Dutt’s alleged relationship with Madhuri Dixit was doing the rounds, the actor had done a photoshoot for a magazine with Aishwarya Rai who was a model during that timer. Aishwarya Rai was yet to win the Miss World crown and was light years away from taking acting as her profession.
During the course of the interview with the magazine, Sanjay Dutt was asked about Aishwarya and the actor stated to have seen her in the Cola commercial and he was like, “Who was that beautiful woman?” He further went ahead and revealed in the interview with Cineblitz magazine that his sisters have actually met Aishwarya and warned him to not try to woo her.
Dutt said, “Hey! Who doesn’t know about her? Look I saw her in the Pepsi ad. In fact, everyone did. Actually, my sisters like her a lot. They find her very beautiful. They’ve met her. My sisters warned me before I came for this session. They told me ‘Don’t you woo her. Don’t take her number. Don’t send her flowers.'”
Dutt was of the opinion that if Aishwarya enters into films, her “beautiful side” will be lost. He further added, “When you come into this glamour industry, it starts changing you, maturing you – that innocence is lost. That beautiful side which she (Aishwarya) has right now on her face will disappear. Because she has to handle the film world right and that is not easy to do. It’s not just the piling on, it’s cut-throat, it’s competitive. It’s like ‘Man I have to look better than that, I’ve gotta be there.’ You know you climb two steps and there will be like 500 people pulling you down five steps. And you become hard. And those beautiful qualities are gone.”
Sanjay Dutt was in awe of Aishwarya’s beauty and was smitten by her personality and charm to a greater extent and to explain that he said, “If she stood on the road, they’d all come to a screeching halt. If I did the same, they’d run over me.”
Almost a decade after this interview when Aishwarya Rai had become a sought-after actress in the Hindi film industry, Sanjay Dutt and Aishwarya worked together for the first time in David Dhawan’s ‘Hum Kisi Se Kam Nahin’. The movie also had Ajay Devgn and Amitabh Bachchan, who became Aishwarya’s father-in-law later. Amitabh had played the role of Aishwarya’s elder brother in the movie.
Hum Kisi Se Kam Nahin was not a commercial success but Sanjay Dutt and Aishwarya had again together and played the role of a husband and wife in Leena Yadav’s thriller ‘Shabd’ in 2005.
